From 387 wines submitted and 20 wines selected.
Eight shiraz/shiraz blends, six cabernet/cabernet blends, four pinot noirs and two grenaches seem a fair representation of the state of play in Australia (pinot noir and grenache are both seeking greater slices of the pie, but they will have their hands full).
There are 10 wines priced at $100 or above, and there would have been 12 had Grange and Hill of Grace been submitted for the Top 100. Very sensibly, the respective producers took the view that little was to be gained in the wake of the praise and points I have already given them.
