Whistle Post

Brian and Jennifer Smibert, together with son Angus, established Whistle Post in 2012, following 40 years of grapegrowing and winery experience. It takes its name from the railway that ran alongside the Home Block, specifically the signpost requiring trains to let off a warning whistle as they approached the nearby V&A Lane crossing. In 2016, the family purchased the remaining B Seppelt & Sons' assets in Coonawarra: two 20ha vineyards which incorporated the Coonawarra Wine Gallery sales outlet. The Whistle Post cellar door opened in 2017 following renovations, and the wines are now made onsite in the newly constructed winery. The substantial estate vineyard comprises cabernet sauvignon, chardonnay, merlot, cabernet franc and pinot noir. Exports to Asia and the Pacific. -JAMES HALLIDAY
