Little Frances

Little Frances is Erin Frances Pooley, an intrepid winemaker behind ventures in Australia and California. Born in Sydney, she moved to the US to work vintage in '07, founding Little Frances in '12 with 2t of semillon from Lake County, north of Napa Valley. The line expanded to include sauvignon blanc, chenin blanc and merlot. In '20, she returned home looking to make Beechworth her winemaking base. 'The granite, altitude and climate of Beechworth was always my goal,' she says. Erin, no relation to the Pooley winemaking family in Tasmania, relies on growers throughout the Beechworth region and has found a new winemaking home in an old apple processing shed on the Beechworth–Stanley Road. Her goal of expanding Little Frances across 2 hemispheres is now complete. -JENI PORT
