Our Review
Nelly and Alan Cooper decided to plant grapes in 1985 at Pastoria, in a ruggedly beautiful part of the cool Macedon Ranges. They have always been low impact, thoughtfully caring for their land, but they haven’t looked back since venturing towards organics, then certified biodynamics in ’11. The result is wine with a sense of place unfettered by chemicals or additions, except SO2, of course. Their wines are distinctive, detailed, delicious and often beautiful. The focus is on chardonnay, pinot noir, syrah and Australia’s finest lagrein. -JAMES HALLIDAY
