Carlaminda Wines

Quirinus Olsthoorn is primarily a cattle breeder, but has established semillon, shiraz and viognier on his property, the first plantings dating back to 1994. Until 2003 the grapes were sold, but since then part of the production has been retained for the Carlaminda label, supplemented by contract-grown tempranillo and nebbiolo. Quirinus' French wife Anita runs a small, ‘maybe the smallest in Australia', French bistro, which is said to be very successful. -JAMES HALLIDAY
