House of Cards

House of Cards is owned and operated by Elizabeth and Travis Wray; Travis managing the vineyard and making the wines, Elizabeth managing sales and marketing. The name of the winery is a reflection of the gamble that all viticulturists and winemakers face every vintage: ‘You have to play the hand you are dealt by Mother Nature’. They only use certified organic estate-grown grapes, open-top fermentation, hand plunging and manual basket pressing. It’s certainly doing it the hard way, but it must seem all worthwhile when they produce wines of such quality. -JAMES HALLIDAY
