Our Review
Stormflower Vineyard was founded by David Martin, Howard Cearns and Nic Trimboli, 3 friends better known as co-founders of Little Creatures Brewery in Fremantle. They thought the location of the vineyard (planted in the mid-90s) was ideal for producing high-quality wines. They pulled out one-third of the vines planted in the wrong way, in the wrong place, leaving almost 10ha of cabernet sauvignon, shiraz, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, semillon and chenin blanc in place. Now the sole owner, David Martin is the driving force in the vineyard, with a family background in agriculture. The vineyard, certified organic in '16, is managed using natural soil biology and organic compost. A new winery was completed just in time for the '20 vintage, with all wines now made onsite. -JAMES HALLIDAY
