South Australian visionary and entrepreneur Peter Teakle has passed away at age 72. The South Australian businessman led the first winery on the Eyre Peninsula in Peter Teakle Wines, along with numerous philanthropic contributions to the wider industry. Peter, along with Peter Teakle Wines, put the Eyre Peninsula on the map as a food and wine destination, and prior to that he spent years transforming Collotype Labels – his family's wine label printing business – from a team of 12 and turned it into a multi-million-dollar global company. Peter will be remembered for his kindness and commitment to community.
In a release, the Peter Teakle Wines team said Peter's commitment to showcasing Port Lincoln and the Eyre Peninsula as a premier food and wine destination was unparalleled.
"Peter’s philanthropy and unwavering support for the wider Port Lincoln community will be remembered and cherished. He leaves an indelible mark on our community, our region and our industry. Without doubt, Peter’s greatest strength was his ability to bring people together and he genuinely loved the personal and professional relationships he developed across his many endeavours. Peter was the patriarch of our family and our business. We look forward to continuing his legacy for generations to come."
