1025 chardonnays were tasted for the 2019 Halliday Wine Companion. Of that number, 46 were awarded points of 97 or greater. Examples from regions on both sides of Australia have a strong foothold in this year’s top chardonnays and include the Mornington Peninsula, Yarra Valley, the Eden Valley, Great Southern and the Adelaide Hills. Margaret River, somewhat unsurprisingly, comes out on top in terms of overall quality.
