Our Review
Matahiwi Estate is a family-owned winery producing regionally classic wines from sustainably farmed, estate-owned fruit (pinot noir, sauvignon blanc, pinot gris and sauvignon blanc) in Wairarapa and small parcels from source vineyards (chardonnay and syrah) in Hawke's Bay. Chardonnay is the standout, in part due to the natural acidity afforded by cool temperatures in the latter ripening weeks ahead of harvest. -KATRINA BUTLER
