Auld Family Wines

South Australia | Barossa Valley

Our Review

The Barossa-based Auld family has been involved with wine for 6 generations; the most recent, Jock and Sam Auld, founded this new brand. They rightly celebrate their family history, starting with Patrick Auld, who arrived in SA in 1842 and purchased 147ha of land at Magill, adjacent to Captain Penfold. Patrick began planting in 1845, achieving fame for Auldana’s wines. In 1888, 2nd generation William Patrick Auld started a wine and spirit business in Adelaide named WP Auld and Sons. Today’s wines are branded William Patrick, Strawbridge and Wilberforce – the last not the name of a family member, but a horse that Patrick rode across Australia. -JAMES HALLIDAY
