Our Review
Dr. Plonk was borne of maker Matt Brown’s experience at Alpha Box & Dice. This experience led to the inaugural bottling of Good Doctor’s Tonic in ’04. Subsequently, foresight deemed tannat and the late-ripening mourvèdre to be righteous replacements for sauvignon blanc, ripped out in ’09 when the 16ha site in the Willunga Foothills became Brown’s home base. Later, under the guidance of viticulturalist Richard Leask, montepulciano and carignan were also planted. -NED GOODWIN MW
