Our Review
Blue Gables is the culmination of a long-held dream for chemical engineer Alastair Hicks and his journalist wife, Catherine Hicks. They purchased 8ha of a north-facing hillside slope from Catherine’s father’s dairy farm and built a 2-storey, gabled-roof farmhouse, hence the name. This small vineyard, nestled high above the Macalister Irrigation District in East Gippsland, was first planted in '04 with further plantings in ’05 – 0.8ha each of sauvignon blanc, pinot gris and shiraz and 0.4ha of chardonnay. Sangiovese and pinot noir were added in '17. -JAMES HALLIDAY
