Philippa Farr

This is take-three for the Farr family, father Gary and brother Nick having shown the way. Growing up at Bannockburn, surrounded by vines and sheep, Philippa was exposed to fine wine from an early age. In 2003 she undertook the vintage at Brokenwood, and after completing the first year of a bachelor of wine science degree, she returned to work at Brokenwood full-time, studying part-time, until the completion of the ’05 vintage. She says that ‘just to ensure her childhood upbringing on a sheep farm was not her true passion, she followed a farming career in the following years in Gippsland’. She also took time to complete vintages at Bellvale, Domaine Dujac, By Farr and Purple Hen. After 4 years living in Gippsland, Philippa made her first Pinot Noir from half a hectare of high-density planted pinot. -JAMES HALLIDAY
