Our Review
Husband and wife team, Tom and Charmaine Handyside, lived and breathed wine before finally turning their passion into reality, establishing the Still Moon vineyard at Heathcote in 2020. Tom is a viticulturist with 25 years experience. During his career he has worked for Cullen, Yering Station and Rill House, among others, and has run his own viticultural consulting service. Charmaine has studied oenology and operated her own wine bar in Kyneton before Still Moon became her main focus. The couple selected Heathcote not exclusively for the region’s Cambrian soil but for what Charmaine calls “this beautiful mix of rock, soil, warmth and vines with age.” Their grapes of choice are grenache, sangiovese and syrah with a focus on organic and biodynamic viticulture. When buying in fruit, they work with vineyards that allow them to manage their own rows. In the winery, the couple prefer to use minimal sulphur and low intervention practices.
