Our Review
Woody Nook, with a backdrop of 24ha of majestic marri and jarrah forest, may not have the high profile of the biggest names in Margaret River but it has had major success in wine shows over the years. Founded by Jeff and Wynn Gallagher in ’78, with the first vines planted in ’82, it was purchased by Peter and Jane Bailey in ’00. Their investment was transformative, constructing a new winery, a gallery tasting room for larger groups and an alfresco dining area by the pond. The original vineyard remains, planted to regional stalwarts such as cabernet sauvignon, merlot and chardonnay; further plantings were added in ’07, including tempranillo and graciano. -JAMES HALLIDAY

Cellar Door
Information
The Woody Nook Cellar Door, Gallery Tasting Room and Gift Shop is open daily for wine tastings and sales between 10:00am and 4:30pm.
The Gallery Tasting room, used for larger groups features local art and jewellery, while the gift shop stocks a vast range of wine related gifts, novelties and wine T shirts unique to Woody Nook.

Available from September 2012.
Woody Nook House, the owners' former residence is currently being refurbished and will be available for holiday accommodation from September 2012. It is a well appointed, cosy property with unique rustic charm, overlooking the vineyard on one side and the winery's magnificent forest backdrop on the other.
